Pakistani Khotan Rug - 8'10" x 11'8"
Originating in the Eastern Turkestan oasis on the fabled Silk Road (now part of western China) Khotan rugs combined Western and Chinese design elements. The pomegranates, a symbol of fertility and abundance, is one of the most recognizable and important of those elements and features prominently in this contemporary version of a classic design. The center panel features a center medallion of pomegranates with mirrored pomegranate tree branches against a taupe/brown ombre background. Light teal green and creamy beige predominate in the design.
